Today celebrates the feast day of Saint Nicholas of Myra, a fourth century Byantine bishop who remains widely revered for his generosity, kindness and compassion. In many European cultural traditions, the night before Saint Nicholas Day is when children display their shoes in prominent positions, like the front of their bedroom doors or by the dining room table, in order for Saint Nicholas to fill them with small gifts and treasures as they sleep. So it's odd that today would also be called 'Put On Your Own Shoes Day.' Either way, it's clear that Saint Nicholas' Day was the precursor to our own modern day tales of jolly old St. Nick. Feng Shui says that your shoes can also bring you another gift when positioned in a particular manner. A Feng Shui cure says that you can walk right into opportunities for a brand new job if you position all the shoes in your closet so that the toes are pointing out and the heels are flush against the back wall. The shoes should be put in pairs and those that are outdated or never worn should be weeded out and given away to someone who can use them. Following in the footsteps of Saint Nick, acting charitably while also activating an intention is arguably the greatest gift of all!
